Punta Cana Airport set to make its mark on Caribbean travel

Duty Free Americas,
who won the concession to operate the duty free shops in the Dominican
Republic's new Punta Cana airport, reports that sales have far exceeded
their expectations since
Feb. 10, when they opened
for business in a temporary store. The airport handles flights from
Central and South America to Russia, and the high-end Punta Cana resort
caters to a wealthy traveler who has money and is willing to spend it,
says DFA President Leon Falic. The company will open a 450 sq. meter
permanent store this summer.
